- A therapist or clinical psychologist holds a regulated, protected healthcare title in most European countries. A coach does not.
- Only a licensed clinician can diagnose, treat a mental health disorder, or manage medication questions.
- A coach can work on preparation, safety literacy, reflection, values, habits and follow-through. That is a real scope, not a lesser version of therapy.
- Psychedelic-assisted therapy as studied in trials is not what most people buy on the open market. Trial protocols include screening, medical supervision, structured psychological support and follow-up.
- The support component in clinical trials is inconsistently reported and poorly standardised, so we do what the studies do is usually an overclaim.
- Serious adverse events in trials were reported for roughly 4 percent of participants with pre-existing neuropsychiatric conditions, so screening is not a formality.
- If you have symptoms that meet the threshold of a disorder, you need a clinician. A coach can work alongside that, not instead of it.
